There is a large stigma surrounding men and mental health, this one increases as men get older and even more so when becoming a father. The need to protect and never show weakness is only made stronger when having a child.
Compared to other stages of a man’s life, the transition to fatherhood and beginning stages of parenthood are times at which men are more likely to experience psychological distress. During this time around Father’s Day it is important to remain aware of the warning signs of anxiety and depression, and check in on the important men in our lives.
